In United States of America there is no other bigger event than the presidential election.The race for the most demanding position of the whole of united states occurs in every four years time.

The election is mainly held by the law of U.S. Constitution, but every state could have its own separate rules as well.The person who is selected as the candidate for the president will be selecting his/her deputy. They both will be getting the same votes. That is one can only vote for a one party. Because of the system both the president and the vice president will be elected from the same party.

There are some acceptance factors to be eligible to be the president of United States such as the age and the nationality.

In any presidential election campaigning plays a major role and could decide more than 10% of the votes. Meeting people in public is supposedly the most effective way getting into their hearts. Not to mention the effect of internet as well. Internet is a method of clearly and descriptively mentioning the ideas and view to the voters. To give some pre election punches to your opponent the television debates could be used as a very strong medium. In fact in most of recent presidential elections whoever had done well in those debates became the winner.

The start of the current United States presidential election system dates back to 1789 and the first president elected was George Washington. Registering a fairly comfortable win he became a very successful president as well. In 1792 he was able to save his post as the president of USA by winning the election for the second time. From 1804 however the election for the vice president was held. A separate electoral votes were conducted to select the vice president. This method was there until 1872 when it was decided that the candidate for president or his party should select the vice president. Apart from it ensuring both president and the vice president coming from the same party it did not have a huge impact on the election.

From 1932 to 1948 Republican and socialist parties had such a hard time competing against Franklin D. Roosevelt from Democratic. Winning four consecutive presidential elections he was able to beat his opponents with a fairly big margin . But then again most of the presidents in the past have won the presidential election with a considerable margin of votes other than George W. Bush from the republican .
